Driver Announcement - Jenson O’Neill-Going

It’s safe to say we’ve been waiting a while for this day…

We’re excited to finally be able to announce that Jenson O’Neill-Going will be making his debut in the BRSCC Fiesta Junior Championship next weekend at Donington Park!

Jenson has been part of the team since it began back in 2013, and has eagerly been waiting for his turn to get racing. Due to him only turning 14 a few days ago, Jenson will be taking part in the last 2 rounds of the championship at Donington Park and Brands Hatch and then will return to the championship next April for his first full season.

Since just 7 years old Jenson has been behind the wheel of various cars, including touring cars and single-seaters. He has spent the past few years working alongside some very experienced and talented drivers in order to prepare himself for the challenge ahead. He has shown he is very dedicated to his motorsport career and has been sim training every evening to prepare himself as best as possible for when he starts racing.

Jenson will also start at Silverstone UTC in September for his GCSEs. We feel this will help propel his career as he will learn at the heart of motorsport in the UK. He will be able to utilise his engineering course both on track and while setting up the car, he plans on developing his knowledge by working in the race workshop on his car to further his understanding which will also benefit his on-track performance.

In terms of on-track testing, unfortunately, due to his age, this has been very limited for Jenson. However, he has had frequent trips to Blyton Park to learn the car, improve his car handling, work on giving feedback to the engineer and has been able to compare lap times with current FJC drivers allowing him to practice going through data.

Although he has thoroughly enjoyed his time in karting, Jenson is keen to take the next step in his career. He will however be finishing the season in the Junior Rotax class as they have just one round of karting left which is set to take place on the 16/17th of September.

Jenson is looking forward to getting behind the wheel and said “I’ve been waiting a long time to finally be able to go racing, I started testing at just 7 years old and have been impatient to go racing ever since. I have been lucky enough to test a variety of race cars and work with some really talented drivers so I can’t wait to be able to get stuck in at Donington Park.”

Jamie Going, Team Principle (Jenson’s Dad) added ‘I can’t believe that it’s finally time for Jenson to go racing, I’ve watched him drive all of my cars for over 7 years now so to be able to watch him in his first car race next weekend is crazy. Jenson has been at nearly every Fiesta race weekend since 2013, I’m bursting with pride that after 10 ½ seasons being around the team, it is finally Jenson’s turn to represent the team and show everyone what he is capable of. I just want him to go out there, enjoy it and drive as fast as he can.’
